I recently found out that clay-based cat litter is a product found in the process of strip-mining. Strip-mining is one of the destructive methods use daily in mining of products sold across the world that are destroying thousands of acres of our earth. There are products on the market that use natural products which are not harmful to our earth; however these products usually are more expensive than the clay-based product. A “Green” or reusable method is to take your daily or week-end newspaper, shred it, and line the cat’s litter box with it. Newspaper is very absorbent, so about 3 inches of thickness should work. Throw on some baking soda and see if you can go green and save some green along the way.
